I would rename this one the “Emerald Trail” because a good portion of the trail is lined with massive deciduous trees (think very green) which, along with the Boise River, actually cools the trail significantly during Boise’s hot summer months. The Boise Greenbelt was first conceived in the mid-60s and started with two or three small parcels of land being donated to the city in an effort to work towards to plan of a greenbelt. Boise River Greenbelt Trail: Ann Morrison Park to E Parkcenter Blvd is a 10.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Boise, Idaho and is good for all skill levels. We didn’t love it but we liked it and it was nice. While,as in the past, the Garden Valley section is the least enjoyable it is the most improved and it is clear the City of Garden Valley is working hard to upgrade the trail segments in their city. We did 5 miles roundtrip and enjoyed every minute!
Leading out of the city both north-west and south-east, the trail connects suburbs with parks and the Lucky Peak State Recreation Area. im not from the area so it was a neat walking trail.Nice easy ride. Hours of Operation.
The eastern portion of the trail is wide open, has desert like views, and provides riders with an opportunity to put some real distance on the bike. The trail passes through more than one academic institution. The replacement of the Plantation Islsnd bridge and pavement on the island is great. The sports pavilion is complete with tennis, pickleball and basketball; Kid’s Fishing Creek is aptly named and ready for you to wet a line
Perfect summer spot to rideI recommend this trail as a Leisure trail. The trail offers a number of activity options. But the Boise River is center stage all the way and provided a lot of beautiful vistas. It is now one of the major “landmarks” that contributes to the vibrancy of the city.

Very friendly to bikers! Several outstanding parks along the trail provide fountains to cool off in, the zoo, festivals to enjoy, and people to watch. Easy walking for little kids.Quite a few bugs around the sewage plant, but other than that, beautiful day out. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Beautiful trail for biking, walking, jogging for all ages. The scenery was spectaculareasy out and back for the dog.
