Essentially what is going on is that each time the program runs (which in most BAS controllers is every second), if the set point is not being met the PI block will add or subtract the integral factor from output.Well as we saw on the proportional block, the proportional component of the PI block will scale based on the difference from set point and the measured input (space temp, pressure, etc).This works ok for some control modes, but what about things like pressure or temperature that can have huge swings in how they respond to changes?This is where the integral factor comes into play. How does one create a standard around alarming?Once again we turn to my book, So basically, you define the point list by the system, and then you apply the alarm thresholds based on if the system is critical.But.... (side note, I sure use that lead in a lot don't I? From there the customer will select a set of controls to mitigate the vulnerabilities.I tell you all of that so that you understand what the IT folks are talking about when they ask you questions around cybersecurity.The trick to cybersecurity is being more secure than the other guys.Well, it's actually quite easy.If you do these things you will massively increase the security of your BAS.I know, it's shocking to think that you would actually need to tell someone this.
