It was getting so cold too. Last of 6 summits on a morning circuit. This heads steeply up to eventually reach the massive stone pyramid erected for Prince Albert. This was me trying a panorama with my phone.The path ahead of us was glowing with the sunlight, also warming the moss covered stones. I knew straight away I was going fall in love with this trail. As soon as I saw the photo, I knew this was a walk I must explore.I ‘d also thought of hiking Lochnagar, until I checked how long it would take and how much of a challenge it would be.
Princess Victoria’s cairn looks so much further away from the others, and easy to get lost there!
Is it a ‘must walk’ for them when they stay at Balmoral Castle? Follow the path leading south east from the cairn. This cairn directly overlooks Balmoral Castle. The trees were surrounded by long grass instead of mossy rocks and heather that we’d seen previously.It was just as well we had our Garmin with us, as I was lost already. In hindsight, walking the trail clockwise turned out better for us.
It might not seem huge to some, compared to the pyramids in Egypt, but this was the first pyramid I’d ever seen.I lingered, looked in awe, then thought, woah!
