I had a leather reclining lazy boy lounger sitting on a press table on the roof of that building. Even the Russian army are getting amongst it.
Seeing them is a huge opportunity...There will never be another frontman quite like Freddie Mercury! But when they took to the stage at the finals in front of a packed audience of parents, teachers, students, and little sisters like me, they went straight into RATM’s ‘Killing in the Name’, ending with the singer screaming “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me!” while pointing to the principal.
And it’s not lost on me that every single one of these performances took place before the age of smartphones.
Thanks Freddie, Brian, Roger and John!Fisher, Fossen, Deroizer, Leese and the Wilson sisters. That audience interaction? When I was 12, I went to my brother’s high school talent show called ‘Star Quest.’ There was a band of students in their final year who had nailed their audition with a heartwarming cover of the Foo Fighters’ song ‘Big Me’.
The best live act in the history of music, Rock on Ann & Nan.Deserves to be at the top... #1A show from MTV is ranked higher than Heart at Cal Jam 2. To this day, it is still the coolest thing I have ever witnessed. Flawless.
I was fortunate enough to see the show on tour in Oslo, and got the terrific add-on of "Marooned". I was high as a kite!
The only one higher than me (in altitude) were the guys flying the helicopter.Best live band ever no comparison should be no. It just don't get any better than that.
There was a roof hatch door.
Unfortunately, no video of said performance exists, so you’ll have to settle with this one instead.Shifting gears here to showcase an iconic performance by one of the greatest rappers of all time, Mr. Tupac Shakur. The kind of shows that you’d give a vital organ to go back in time and attend. They set the mark for all else to try and attain.
What an experience! The song remains the same. I was there. Heart played in front of 300'000 people and were perfect thru out there set. What I found were these six examples of pure, musically-induced euphoria.
Just look up "Stairway" from this show on YouTube. It has always amazed me that no other lead has been able work the crowd in anything like the same wayWembley is one of the best concerts ever, but not the best concert of Queen: Live Aid, Rock in Rio and their concerts between 1979 and 1981 are even better!
