There’s snakes and this is definitely not kid or dog friendly if you take your kids or pets you should be ashamed of yourself. You do need a Tonto pass to park. Very rocky and a lot of cactus along the trail. 5. It’s not worth it do not go for the trail save your money and enjoy the lake insteadAmazing trail!

Saguaro Lake is a very fun but busy area to go plenty of places to camp just be aware if you are going with your family on a weekend there is a place nicknamed "Party Cove" there is a channel on the south side of the lake that leads to this location and there tends to be a lot of partying and can lead into some fights not a great place for kids BUT the rest of the lake and the restaurant and the boat tours definitely makes it worth taking a trip to see just make sure you get there early so you don't need to wait to get on the lake!New to the area, so wasn't aware that you needed to get the $6 Forest Pass before you left town. Lots of cactus and trees in the path in places so would recommend wearing long pants.
Trail is narrow, rocky in a few spots and lined with cactus. Dog friendly for sure. Its an easy trail with beautiful views of Four Peak, Saguaro Lake, and the Arizona landscape. It’s filled with people who leave their trash everywhere, there’s no shade so be prepared for that, no one even tells you about the swampy part where you have to go through trees that cover everything that looks like the scene from Snow White which isn’t a compliment. We saw a lot of trash in the water, very sad to see.this trail was not even worth the 12$ you actually have to pay to get in. Jones Beach State Park and Jones Island which stretches east of the park were the creation of master builder Robert Moses in the 1920s. The capitan was very nice and provided great historical facts about the area.We were visiting mesa and found this lake. The site was easy to find, and my family of 6 arrived at 7:30 a.m. to find the beach area with only 3 families. There’s a little area where you can hike down towards the water and hangout.We enjoyed this trail a lot. Plenty of shade for the first half of hike and got sunny towards the end.
