Staff was handling this whole transition very well! Chef Donnie Glass has cooked his way down the New England coast in some of the regions most respected restaurants. They restaurant did a great job with social distancing and cleaning of their tables. grouper sauce was a little salty and too much for the fish, but cooked well and was very tasty. Food is also amazing. The food was great, they have a mask policy that tends to be a bit of an annoyance to customers trying to enjoy a meal. We had a selection of oysters, shrimp cocktail, heirloom tomato salad and the grilled grouper.

We really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely visit there again on our next trip to Charlottesville!It is our very favorite place! We were early to the reservation and looking for recommendations for pre-dinner cocktails, our server promptly recommended Quirk hotel which was just a short walk down the block. Love the raw oysters, sparkling wine, lobster roll, calamari and brussel sprouts! Safety precautions. I would definitely return to this restaurant again.
Our server was so informative and made the dining experience, recommended excellent dishes, the bar did a great job choosing our oysters, and at the end of the night we were looking for an espresso martini; the bar did not have it on the menu, but the bartender recommended an excellent comparable drink for us to try instead. Wonderful food! Public Fish and Oyster is a full service seafood restaurant and raw bar specializing in fresh, New England-style seafood in Central Virginia. It was way too small.
