IDK if it's a good or a bad thing that people are going to ignore how bad the movie was for the sake of the pretty space pictures.It's such a weird movie that way as you can see the insane fan service and homages to these films so apparently, and then it goes on to do absolutely nothing with it's entire premise and setup. I've read so many comments praising the movie for being revolutionary and I'm like, did we sit and watch the same movie? While there are plenty of brief action sequences along the way — the encounter on the Moon probably being the best — “Ad Astra” is ultimately less about dramatic interstellar action than it is about interpersonal relationships. They flat out abandon any sense of reality in the end.And it looks like he's gonna keep winning if he ends up doing Damien Chazelle's Babylon like it was rumoured.From the sounds of it, if they nominate him for lead instead of supporting, he is gonna have some hard competition from Phoenix.

Beautiful, bold and remarkably executed, this is Gray’s masterpiece, driven by a career-best turn from Pitt.Brad Pitt's star quality shines in an existential sci-fi spectacular.That is basically what happened to Amy Adams at the 2017 awards iirc I don't even understand how this can be considered sci fi outside of just being set in space.
I spent way too long trying to figure out how "ad" could possibly mean "through hardship to"I would say the story is a cautionary tale about a man who is self consumed with his sense of destiny and how his son was making the same mistake until he saw what "destiny" turned his father into.The line between heroism and villainy has always been a fine one.

My school is going back in person but we are required to offer distance learning as a option to all students.

I hope James Gray, as a director, continues to explore uncharted worlds, but even his cult of fans may find it hard to get too excited over a movie that, beneath its eye-candy space trappings, is this conventional.Brad Pitt is an intergalactic Captain Willard, taking a fraught mission up-river in James Gray’s Ad Astra, an outer-space Apocalypse Now which played to rapt crowds at the Venice film festival.
He is apparently obeying JokerEvery year he becomes more and more one of my favorite actors; so awesome that hes been in the industry this long and is still growing as an actor, he just seems to either get better and better or pick better and better projects to focus on lol, but either way he killed it this year and I hope he keeps it up.
